What Vantage does with your family's data.

What Vantage reads, and why

Battery status, network usage (NetworkStatsManager), Wi-Fi scan results, installed-app info, device sensors, storage and media metadata, screen-time usage stats, and — if you grant it — phone/SIM info and notification access. Each is read only to power the matching screen in the app (Battery, Network, Storage, Device, Usage, etc.) and only while you have that permission granted.

What a paired child device reports to a parent

On a paired child device, "installed-app info" is more specific than a single count: it includes, per app, its name, size, install/update dates, whether it was sideloaded, and which permissions it requests and has been granted — this is what powers the parent's App Manager risk flags. "Storage metadata" similarly includes the file names (not the file contents) of large files, duplicate files, and screenshots detected on the device, so the parent can see what's taking up space or review recent screenshots by name. None of this is collected on a single, unpaired device.

Where your data goes

If you use Vantage on a single device, your data stays on this device. If you pair a child device with a parent device, Vantage securely synchronizes data between them through our servers. This includes screen time, installed apps (as described above), battery level, location, and remote viewing data (camera, screen, and microphone audio). We also store a device push-notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so a paired device can be woken up instantly when its policy changes, rather than only checking in periodically. This data is used exclusively to provide supervision features.

Family & paired devices

When paired, the child device's status is transmitted to the parent via our servers. Real-time streams like screen and camera sharing only run when actively requested by the parent, and are not permanently stored on our servers. Microphone audio is never included automatically — it only streams if the parent separately turns on "Listen" during a session, is off by default every time, and the child device shows an ongoing notification for as long as it's active. We never sell or share your family's data with third parties.

Location tracking

When a parent turns on "Track location" for a paired child device, that device reports its GPS position roughly once a minute while tracking is on, shown to the parent as a live position and a trail of recent history (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). The child device shows an ongoing notification for the entire time tracking is active — this is never a silent, hidden background behavior.

Your controls

Every permission above can be revoked at any time from Android Settings → Apps → Vantage → Permissions; the corresponding screen will simply show less until you grant it again. "Reset app data" in Settings clears everything Vantage has stored locally. To permanently delete your Family account and every paired device's data from our servers, use "Delete account" in Account settings.

Account & data deletion

Open Vantage → Account → Danger zone → "Delete account," confirm with your password, and your account plus every paired device's history is permanently removed from our servers immediately — no waiting period, no need to uninstall first.
